If you have some old leather jackets laying around you can us them to make some fun leather accessories and home décor. Leather home décor is a huge design trend right now. Unfortunately if you are working on a small budget, then leather accessories may break the bank.

So, raid your closet, hit those yard sales, and check you the local Goodwill for old, used, and vintage leather jackets. They are a super cheap source for creating yoru own home leather décor.

You can cut up vintage leather jackets and old leather jackets to make leather tabs and leather tie backs for you existing home curtains. Leather tab top curtains look great in vintage home décor settings a s well as bachelor pads and contemporary home design

To make your own homemade leather tabs to accent your curtains all you need to do is cut out strips of leather form your old leather jacket. Cut these strips about two to three inches wide and anywhere from five to ten inches long.

If you cut your tabs ten inches long you can tie them to existing curtains and curtain rods to create tabs. If you cut shorter leather strips you can use grommets or your sewing machine to sew them to the tops of your curtains.

Leather Home Décor Idea #2

Strips of old leather jackets also make great dining room table top accessories. Who said the only leather you could use in your dining room is a leather dining room chair? Use pinking sheers to cut out strips of leather that are two inches wide and five inches long.

Now, use a metal button or dark colored vintage button to sew the strip of leather fabric into a loop. You will need a metal upholstery needle to do this.

You can use this simple loop as a leather napkin ring or even a leather curtain tie back in yoru dining room.

Be sure to use pinking sheers to create a cool edge on the leather strips.

Why not use strips of vintage leather jackets to create leather curtain hems. Often when I buy store bought and pre maid curtains they simply are not long enough to hang as high as I want on my wall.

If you cut out strips of leather jacket you can us them to add length to pre made curtains.

Measure how wide your store bought curtains are. Now, cut out strips of old leather jackets. Try to make thee strips as tall as you can or need. You can sew strips together to create the right sized extra length your need.

Sew the strips of vintage leather to you curtain on the bottom to add length and create some leather accented curtains

If your curtains are the right length, but you still want leather accents on yoru curtains, sew them to the front of yoru curtain panels to create some awesome leather home accessories!
